An atypical year for Mestalla
Valencia CF play their final home game of the season this Thursday at 9pm CEST, with Mestalla rounding off an atypical year. The stadium has seen Champions League nights, great wins in LaLiga -such as the 2-0 victory over FC Barcelona, comebacks including a thriller against LOSC Lille, and now a series of games behind closed doors.

Since the LaLiga campaign got underway at Mestalla on August 17th, in a 1-1 draw with Real Sociedad, 22 games have been held at the ground.
Eighteen have been in the Primera División, four in the Champions League (the most recent in the knockout stage against Atalanta BC), and none in the Copa del Rey due to the competition's revised format.

One of the characteristics shown by the team this season has been strength at home, as Valencia CF put together a run of 16 games unbeaten at Mestalla in the league. The only visiting Spanish team to take a win at the ground have been Athletic Club, who bested them under the new situation of behind-closed-doors games after the restart.
The fourth best home side in LaLiga play their last game at their fortress on Thursday night, chasing victory to keep European hopes alive.
